About Woodridge

Farmingdale Village Combines Area’s Best New Home Value with Gallagher and Henry’s 50-year Reputation

Oct 1, 2008 - New home construction doesn’t come cheap in DuPage County, yet Farmingdale Village delivers starting prices in the $400,000s

For years, Blanco Razo dreamed of owning a new home, one that had never been touched by another’s hands and could hold her family’s memories. That dream seemed distant, however. Too expensive, she reasoned.

A Darien resident for 15 years, she had been adding onto her home, yet it couldn’t meet her family’s swelling needs. She began looking for a new residence with 4-5 bedrooms and an open floor plan.

Razo looked first at resale homes, but little attracted her interest and the value she desired. She then happened upon Farmingdale Village, a new home community in neighboring Woodridge, tucked right near I-355 (at 87th Street) and I-55 as well as the dining, shopping, recreation, and schools she had long favored. Suddenly for Razo, that dream of owning a new home turned into reality.

At Farmingdale Village, a planned community by veteran Chicagoland builder Gallagher and Henry, Razo says she encountered new construction prices $200,000-$300,000 below comparable area homes.

“I was familiar with Woodridge and knew it was a lovely community,” says Razo of the town recognized as one of America’s “Best Places to Live” in 2007 by Money Magazine. “But the quality of the home and the price was the real attraction.”

In November 2007, Razo and her family moved into their new home, a two-story, four-bedroom, 2-1/2 bath abode that delivered all Razo could have ever envisioned, including larger bedrooms and a family room-kitchen combination ideal for entertaining.

Much like Razo, others have discovered the value that blankets the Farmingdale Village community. Of the 23 semi-custom home models to choose from at Farmingdale Village, 13 are priced in the $400,000s, including three ranch models, while one, the two-story Newcastle, starts at $393,100. Because of the scarcity of land in DuPage County, Farmingdale Village claims the most affordable single-family new home construction in the area, a result of Gallagher and Henry’s long-term, patient approach to the homebuilding process.

“We pride ourselves on offering value and helping people own a home that fills all their needs. That’s the way Gallagher and Henry’s been doing for nearly 55 years and that philosophy hasn’t moved a bit,” said Farmingdale Village sales associate Bart Marquardt.

All of the homes at Farmingdale Village arrive with the same high-quality Gallagher and Henry features homeowners have enjoyed for over five decades, including first floor brick construction, basements, energy-saving insulated glass windows, large homesites, designer light fixtures, and wall-to-wall carpeting. Flexible to meet a given buyer’s desires and needs, Gallagher and Henry provides numerous popular options, such as masonry fireplaces, walk-out basements, and oak flooring.

The Farmingdale Village single-family homes also fall into the convenient southeast edge of Woodridge, which offers immediate access to both I-355 and I-55. Shopping and dining options are abundant with the outdoor Promenade shopping center, IKEA, and Meijer all within one mile while the award-winning Cypress Cove Aquatic Park, currently being expanded and renovated, sits nearby as well.

“The location is certainly a primary selling point,” said Farmingdale Village sales associate Colleen McQuaid. “You have immediate access to key expressways, recreational options, shopping, and dining, but you’re not paying for that convenience as you do in other nearby communities.”

Farmingdale Village has two single-family sales offices: one on Woodward Ave approximately one mile south of 87th Street; and a second immediately south of 87th and approximately ½ mile east of I-355. For more information on Farmingdale Village’s single-family homes, please call 630-985-9500.
