New Construction Estimator (Residential)

Gallagher and Henry is a family owned residential builder, and general contractor, who has been building in the Chicagoland area since 1954. ‘We build the best homes in the best communities’ and are currently looking to add a Residential Construction Estimator to our team. The Residential New Construction Estimator supports our Sales Managers in facilitating the purchase experience, throughout various phases of the process.


If you are a talented individual and are able to read and understand plans and specifications; and complete take-offs of plans and specifications - Our established construction company has an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator to join our team of professionals. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in construction project management, be organized, motivated, detail-oriented and driven. This is a great opportunity to build a career at an established construction firm.


Primary responsibilities:

      • Review and evaluate cost estimates
      • Communicate with trade partners and team members regarding new and current projects
      • Prepare estimates and purchase orders in detail for all products
      • Ensure timely completion of estimates
      • Understand scope of work to bid
      • Manage bid pricing from all vendors
      • Prepare cost analysis
      • Establish and maintain working relationships with vendors, subcontractors, sales staff, administration and management.


    • 3 years plus experience in new construction estimating
    • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Applied Science, Civil Engineering or related field
    • Ability to read architectural plans and develop cost estimates
    • Strong understanding of residential construction processes
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
    • CAD and or Soft Plan experience is an asset
    • Experience with Constellation Home Builder – New Star Enterprise (ERP system) a plus
    • Able to multi-task and meet strict deadlines
    • Outstanding problem-solving skills
